Coming Soon: New Grant Opportunity for Organizations Working Across Differences
Community foundations are natural leaders when it comes to bringing people together to develop shared solutions. We are pleased to announce an upcoming grant program to support community foundations to develop and implement strategies to work across differences in their local communities.
The Council will support an initial cohort of community foundation grantees that have a demonstrated interest in working across differences, with a preference for Council members (nonmembers may apply). Stay tuned for more information in July.

Show the Country What Generosity Builds
We're excited to share our new sector-wide storytelling campaign, Generosity Builds: 250 Years of Charitable Giving — a celebration of how philanthropy shows up in communities across the country, and an invitation to showcase your own impact as part of it.
Think about what generosity looks like in your community and what you'd want to highlight. You can explore the social media toolkit to share stories we've already collected or build your own, submit a story to be featured on our campaign site, or subscribe for updates throughout the year.

Legal Question of the Month With Senior Staff Counsel Remy Barnwell
Question: We are talking with a prospective organization that is considering opening a $1 million Endowed Agency Fund with us.
Assuming they open the fund, what happens if their organization is sued? Would the assets in the endowment fund be protected?
Answer: If the organization is sued, the assets in the endowment fund would be protected because they are no longer the legal property of the organization. Once the endowment fund is opened, it is the sole legal property of your foundation and subject to your foundation’s variance power. So, any suit against the organization would not impact the fund.
